HOW NA NIN BEGAN

Na Nin, meaning 'I am,' was inspired when living in Korea and learning the Korean language by way of phonetics from a friend. One of the first sentences learned was, "I am happy because I am with you." Na Nin is a reminder of the importance of kindness.

PRODUCT & MANUFACTURING

We’re proud that vintage is a sustainable way to invest in fashion and remains the guiding force of our business.

We are immensely grateful for this shared appreciation by our customers. Who not only are contributing to sustainable consumerism by extending a garment’s life - they continue to inspire us by sharing their own personal style in their Na Nin purchases. The success of our vintage curations has allowed us for growth and expansion of our own in house line of products.

Na Nin Fragrances are hand blended, poured and bottled on site in our Richmond, VA studio.

Our jewelry is produced by a small family owned business out of New York, New York.

Over 95% of our apparel is produced in Los Angeles, California and this past year we have partnered with a small, women-owned factory that provides jobs for local artisans in Lima, Peru for knitwear.  We have also begun production of nylon/recycled nylon & genuine leather accessories in China.  Our organic cotton socks are produced in Japan.

Our values are woven throughout all steps of our business and we seek production partners as well as independent brands who share these values of fair wages and healthy working conditions for their staff.

VINTAGE

Our vintage and second hand items are curated by our vintage team. These items will likely have imperfections due to their pre loved wear. The colors of items may vary from the product image.

We do our best to include noteworthy flaws, details, and color variations in each vintage product’s description and measurements.

Even after thorough inspection, it is possible that we may miss an imperfection.  Examples of imperfections that a vintage or second hand item may retain, include, but are not limited to: pilling, discolorations, small tears, pulls, loose threading, etc.

Our vintage and secondhand finds are one-of-a-kind pieces. Only one of each item is available. Vintage sizing often varies from modern sizes. Some items may not retain their original brand, size and/or material tags. We do our best to suggest a possible size range for each item but these recommendations are not a guarantee. Please refer to approximate measurements that are included in the listings if you have any questions about style or fit.

Please e-mail us at vintage@naninstudio.com if you need additional information on sizing, details, flaws, or colors of products. Our customer service hours are Monday - Friday, 9am - 5pm EST. We will do our best to answer all questions in the order they are received. Please note that inquiring about a vintage item does not guarantee availability.

Please refer to our shipping & returns page for detailed information concerning our policies. All prices are in USD.

FRAGRANCE

Candle Care & Use:

Our products are non-toxic and cruelty free. They are phthalate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, vegan and not tested on animals. Please keep away from children, store in a cool, dim place.

Make sure you light your candle on a heat-safe surface, away from drafts and winds. Before lighting, always trim your wick to ⅓ to ¼ of an inch. This prevents excess smoking and soot, allowing for a cleaner overall burn. Re-trim the wick every time you light your candle.

For the first burn, keep your candle lit for at least 2 hours, or until the entire top surface of the wax is melted. Wax has a “memory” - a proper first burn extends the life of the candle and prevents tunneling over time. Avoid keeping your candle lit for more than 4 hours. Extinguish the flame gently, and if possible, immediately cover with a lid or heat-proof material to minimize smoking.

Candle Burn Times:

5oz candle - up to 25 hrs

8oz candle - up to 35 hours

9oz candle - up to 40 hours

Candle Appearance:

"Wet spots" and “frosting” in candles are aesthetic imperfections that occur due to changes in temperature in the pouring environment, during transit, or in storage. Wet spots resemble spots or patches that appear to pull away from the surface of the glass vessel. Frosting resembles a slightly crystallized appearance that is characteristic to 100% natural soy wax, which is what we use for our products as a sustainable and environmentally friendly alternative to synthetic wax blends.

Wet spots and frosting are very common in handmade candles; as they are a result of subtle shifts in atmosphere that can affect the candle at any time, from immediately after pouring or weeks afterward in storage. We take care to avoid these imperfections, but the changes in the candles after they ship out from our facility are unfortunately out of our control. Please note that these physical imperfections will never inhibit the functionality or fragrance of your candle. The candle will still burn beautifully, with a great fragrance throw.

Apothecary and Personal Fragrance:

Our products are non-toxic and cruelty free. They are phthalate-free, paraben-free, gluten-free, vegan and not tested on animals. Please keep away from children, store in a cool, dim place. For external use only. If irritation occurs, discontinue use and rinse with cool water. Consult a physician before use if you are pregnant.

Usage of Palo Santo

To lessen our footprint on the impact of Palo Santo over-usage we aim to incorporate only a minimal amount of Palo Santo essential oil and purchase from sustainable sources. In some fragrance products with “Palo Santo” listed as a note, we substitute with a trade blend of synthetic phlalate/sulfate-free premium fragrance oils to create the Palo Santo fragrance.

Starting in 2023 a portion of sales from products made with the Palo Santo essential oil will be contributed to organizations whose cultures have a connection to sacred Palo Santo practices.

If you have further questions about our ingredients or would like guidance on which of our products are 100% natural, please contact our fragrance team.

Unfortunately due to country-specific customs regulations, we cannot ship alcohol-based perfumes, reed diffusers, or home sprays to select countries.

In most cases, our fragrances and apothecary are hand blended and produced to order - please allow up to 3-5 business days prior to shipping.
